Mrs. Kelleen Ayton hails from May Pen, Clarendon where she obtained her primary and secondary education at the May Pen Primary and Glenmuir High schools respectively. She subsequently received a Bachelor of Education in English Language. Her love for the English Language and Creole propelled her to further pursue a Masters in English Language, which she obtained in 2007 with honours.
Mrs. Ayton is a dedicated, passionate and hardworking teacher who has so far dedicated 21 years of service to the education sector - 15 years at the secondary level and 6 years at the tertiary level. She is currently a lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Mona in the Faculty of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy. She is specifically associated with the Language Department where she teaches a critical reading and writing course to students associated with Engineering, Computer Science and Sports and Medicine.
Presently, in addition to her role as lecturer, Mrs. Ayton serves as a marker for the Caribbean Examination Council where she marks Communication Studies. She was also the Communication Studies teacher on the “School’s Not Out” series aired on TVJ during the Covid 19 pandemic held for 6th form students pursuing the course. She is also a teacher for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) with over 12 years experience and an adjunct lecturer at the Excelsior Communication College and Quality Academics. She is also a part of the executive body of the National Association of Teachers of English (NATE) and a member of the Boulevard Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ayton lives by her mantra: “Live, love and laugh” and believes that if people treat others as how they would want to be treated, our world would be a better place”.
